Jaspal Singh Dhani

Jaspal Singh DhaniDescribed by Disability News Service, UK, as one of most influential disabled persons in the UK (2013), Jaspal is committed to bringing about social change through participative and innovative approaches to tackling social issues. He has used disability sport as a platform to promote the rights and inclusion of disabled people in the UK, Ghana and India.

Jaspal has been playing wheelchair basketball for over 30 years and is an established wheelchair basketball coach of 17 years.  He is the co-founder of the London Titans wheelchair basketball team which is the largest Club in London and second largest in the UK. []
Jaspal first developed and delivered workshops in wheelchair basketball in Chennai in 2013 and introduced the sport of Boccia.  Since this time, Jaspal has returned to India on many occasions to deliver workshops in Punjab and Mumbai.

Outside of his sporting career, Jaspal is in incumbent CEO at Every Parent & Child – an NGO promoting the rights of children and young people in London.

As a spokesperson for disability and equality, Jaspal has been instrumental in devising strategies to combat and challenge policies that marginalise the lives of disabled people and their carers or family. Furthermore, he has effectively represented the United Kingdom at European and other international forums including the European Union, the United Nations, Disabled People’s International and the European Disability Forum. In 2013 he was selected by the US Embassy to attend their three week International Visitor Leadership Program in the USA which introduced Jaspal to key organisations and individuals working in disability sports policy at Federal level.
